Thanks at 3 AM

It's super early Thanksgiving morning and I am awake and in Arizona! Why I'm on the computer I don't know, but I am and I decided to be thankful!

First of all I'm thankful that we made it to Mesa tonight because the traffic was HORRIBLE and we drove 70% of the time in rain and sometimes heavy rain. The two don't mix well and make for bad driving conditions. So, GLAD TO BE HERE! To top it off I don't think any of the kids had seat belts on once the movie was over because they all laid on the seats for better resting conditions. Knowing that was the case I was super cautions until I got tired... then I was super sleepy and trying to be cautions! I didn't want to stop and let Scott drive because it was pouring by that time and I wanted to get there. We drove the entire 6 hours with NO stops! That's got to be a record with kids!! (I can do it by myself in 5 hours and no stops.)

K, another thing I am thankful for is those 5 people who accompanied me to Arizona! They are amazing. I am so lucky to be the mom of wonderful, smart, talented, beautiful children!!! (I'm also lucky to have my sanity with such demanding, whiny, argumentative children!) No, seriously, my kids are great! And Scott??? how did I pull that one off? Who knew I would marry a guy like Scott? He totally loves me (that takes patience I'm sure!). He is one of the nicest guys you will ever meet. He would give his right shoe to someone if they needed it, and his left one to them even if they didn't need it. He has tons of integrity and is really a wonderful person.

I am thankful for our home that is constantly a work in progress. It has been fun adding new things on to it and working on it, (even though it is getting old..) and someday when it's done it will be even greater! I love living in Apple Valley that's a blessing too.

I am thankful for my friends. I have been made so aware lately of just how blessed I am to have some truly special people in my life who look after me and love me. Oh there is so much that could be said about that, but I will save that for another day. I'm just grateful to have good friends.

One of the most special people in my life is my grandma and I am truly blessed to have her in my life. She and I have had the great opportunity to spend time together the past couple of years and I almost feel guilty for it because it is so wonderful for me! They say that things that you love are usually bad for you or a sin? Well this 'good thing' isn't! She is amazing for me and it fills me up to be around her!

I'm thankful for kindergarten because the parties make for great photo op's! Like the Thanksgiving feast we attended today, (which was really yesterday, but I haven't been to bed yet.) I'll get one or two and post them for the holiday, I'm too tired now to go find them!

Well, I could go on and on, but it's 3:21 now and I am going to fall asleep right here in Stephanie's comfy chair! So I better get off of this computer! I have tons more that I'm thankful for, but I'll leave you in suspense.

Have a wonderful turkey day with your loved ones.

Need a smile?

I saw this on someone else's blog and thought it was so funny. It made me smile. Thought it was way worth sharing!

Things I re-learned today

Slow down, Enjoy each moment, Breathe. Be thankful. Breathe between each thankful thought. Pay attention to each thing that happens each moment, and breathe. Things are better than we think they are. There are ways to do things differently so that we recognize the blessings in the moments. If something isn't working for us, changes it. Do it differently and you will see it differently. Oh, and don't forget to breathe... slow, deep breaths.
I oftentimes go through the tasks of the day so mindlessly that I don't remember a bit of it... I'm choosing now to do it differently and remember it.

Sunday, Sunday

Ok, so my roll was broken... You know, life gets in the way. So we continue on.
I cooked for the missionaries today. We had some good food! My dishwasher broke for good, now I am the dishwasher! I can't wait to get the kitchen remodel going!

I'm looking forward to the holidays that are coming! There's lots to plan and do! We'll be in Arizona for Thanksgiving and then we are going to the cabin for Christmas! I am SOOOO excited about Christmas! I have to finish everything early because once we leave for the cabin there won't be much shopping! Can you imagine that 3 days before Christmas everything could be done? Wow! I'ts coming TOO soon! I love Christmas!

I think my son hates me. There's no trust when I cut his hair! No trust from him and I don't even trust myself. I cut his hair! I wanted to go a bit shorter than usual, but I got out of control! He looks like a boy!!! He did a good job of not showing his frusteration! While I was cutting I asked him what he was going to do when he saw it and he said, "I'll probably have to go in my room and say, 'why so short, ahhh short hair." Then we kind of giggled about how he would react. I think because we had the little conversation it kind of helped him deal with it a bit. What a good kid he is!!!

Monday starts the week out in such a uuhhh way! I have to go down the hill to a class and so I'm gone all evening. I decided Monday would be soup day, so I have to find a recipe to put in the crock pot. I'll find a good one. Last week was lentil, I'll let you know what I do tomorrow.

So, everyone have a great week! If you hear from me it means I have something to say, if you don't, well then... I don't!

I'm on a roll!

This is going to make four days blogging in a row I think!! Wow me!
Today has been a great day, so much accomplished! The thing is you just can't sit down! No rest for the weary!

So four days blogging and two days cooking! If you know me you know I don't cook... Usually... When I do it is pretty good! So I got a craving for soup yesterday and I made the family some Lentil soup in the crock pot. Healthy, good. Tonight I had to use up some broccoli because I bought double for some reason and I made fettucini with broccoli pesto and baked chicken. I know! Right? Can you believe it? Two nights and two very healthy meals... Wow, I must be on a roll!

So this week I have been a widow to flying. Scott left Saturday afternoon out of the blue to go to the mountain and watch people fly (paraglide). He isn't the level he needs to be yet to fly off that mountain. So they went to watch and then to some paragliding meeting. Today he left again to go down to San Diego to fly and take their P2 test. NOW he can fly off that mountain, (if he passes the test, I guess I'll know that when he calls.) So I guess this week {day off=paragliding}. I wonder if that will continue... Not this coming saturday, I'm going to fill his schedule!

That's all the news for this crazy woman! Happy Wednesday all!

Witness

So I was driving down the hill tonight for a meeting and I was behind this trailer. He started to sway just a bit and I thought nothing till it was swaying a little bit for a long time. I thought at first he was just kidding around with the people in his truck or something, then I thought, "is he going to pull out of this?" And then he began swaying more! I was then slowing quite a bit and watching what was about to happen. He got more and more out of control and then it just whipped the heck out of the trailer!! It was CRAZY! I couldn't believe it was actually happening! By the time the guy stopped I had stopped about even with them and stopped on the fast lane side next to the guard rail. \

I jumped out of the car and ran over to them. I was hearing cries of total fear. It turned out the one screaming out was a 10 year old boy. There were 4 people in the truck. Man, woman, 10 year old and a 64 year old grandma. The grandma was having a hard time getting out of the truck, it being totally on it's side and smashed up, and I couldn't do much. There was a man on the phone to 911 and I yelled to him to help pull her out and I grabed his phone and finished with 911. It was so fast and wild. The grandma was bleeding from her head and her whole face was covered in blood! After she got out I was trying to get her to lay down, but she seemed confused and kept saying, "why do I need to lay down?" Whe was sweet and yet she was sort of out of it!

Anyway, after all the medical people got there it turns out that grandma had a huge cut on her head and the boy had a large softball size yucky bruise on his calf and that is about it! The trailer was GONE and the truck wasn't much better!

It was the closest I have ever been to an accident and was actually the first one on the scene and able to help! Wild!!! As soon as the fire dept. got there and I felt strange sticking around I decided to get out of the way. I felt so bad for the people. They were really nice.

I got these pictures on my phone. I wanted to take pictures of the people but thought that would be kind of rude!

I don't think they'll be able to repair these!! Do ya think?

Some of his quads that flew out of the trailer. One was WAY down the mountain!

Trailer and truck, I don't even know how it got in this position!

So I got the power nap and more! I got the whole nap and a massage to boot! I have the most awesome husband ever!
I also have the most awesome Mia Maid class ever! I also have the most awesome kids ever! The little ones had a primary program today and they were super cute!! I also have the best friends ever! Golly and while I'm on a roll, I have the most awesome... well, let just leave it at family, friends and Mia Maids for now.

MORE!

I really should post more. I want toooo... But I haven't! Today I have some really cool picts so I can blog them!

I wanted to hire someone to take our pictures but I have only found one person who does it here in AV and she wouldn't call me back. I left messages and called all the time. Nothing. I know a lady down in Rancho that does it but she charges TONS of money. So I opted not to call her. Anyway, I continued to look but without success.

So then last night I decided to just DO IT! I know, how dumb, I don't have a good camera or anything but I saw a red wall and I wanted to take pictures against the red wall. So I started gathering clothing last night and told Scott and the kids that we were going to get up and go take some picts... I don't have a photo editing program on my computer so my friend Annette is going to work on that, but here's some of the raw stuff!

Yep, Halloween

What kind of blogger would I be if I didn't post Halloween pictures... Besides I spent forever on costumes! I wish I had a better one of Carter's huge cloak, it is reversable and took a lot of work!

Clara Baillie is an 80's girl... could you tell? Brodric wanted to be whatever Carter was, so they are both "travelers"... Do you know what that is? I don't really know either, but it is like in the midevil times. Kendahl was a rock star, go figure. What you can't see is the head set microphone she has coming off her ear.

Scott had a blast passing out glow sticks to everyone. He is everyone's favorite at ward functions!

Things I learned at the beach

Things I learned on the beach.
A day to remember

1. Broken shells are very valuable.
I am the proud owner of nearly every broken shell on the beach. They were given to me by a little boy who, after 4 years, finally noticed shells lying on the sand. It doesn’t seem to matter that they are broken. It only matters that he finds them to give to me! I hold them with care… what are we going to do with them???

2. The space between a rock and a hard place is sometimes where you find the treasure.
Here’s the picture… Two big rocks that are covered most of the time by ocean, except when the tide goes out. Then you can walk between the two BIG rocks. The waves crash and the water rushes into the space between them. So we stood in the space between the rocks and were pounded by waves and rocks being carried by waves. And I do mean pounded! It hurt many times, pain, not good… But we stood. And sometimes we would find the treasure! In the few seconds the water went out and before it rushed back in we found the beautiful shells! We kept hoping that the next wave to come in would bring with it a beautiful big shell. It became addicting! We wanted the next big find and that’s what made the pain worth it. The shell treasure.

3. Gambling sometimes pays off.
This is totally in reference to the shells! It was addicting and it did pay off with some really nice shells! It was a gamble standing in that rough area, but in the end we scored!

4. Don’t say obscure things when there are strangers around.
Scott and I came back from the beach and he was suddenly feeling sick. We didn’t know why, maybe it was too much heat or too much surf or too little food or water in his system, but he had to lie down and quickly! He headed in to the trailer all wet and full of sand. I was wondering how he was going to work it because he wasn’t fit to be in the trailer like that, all sandy and stuff. So as I sat just outside on the picnic bench.
I hollered into the trailer… “Are you lying down?”
He hollered back, “ya.”
And I hollered back in, “Are your clothes off?”
And just at that moment I looked across the little street to see another camper just looking at me with his eyes nearly popping out… I can only imagine what he thought. Now go back and read what we said again.
I should have ended it with a holler back into the trailer, “I’ll be right in!”

5. Sweet little kids are like a life line!
Here’s a comment from my little Brodric in
the evening. “Mom, can we hug? We haven’t hugged at all today”. That just makes the world go round!
